Need to change eating habits

I've tried coaching, hypnosis, loads of things. I know exactly what I need to eat but I struggle. I work at home and I get bored so I boredom eat. I don't binge anymore, I don't eat when I'm upset or angry but I still boredom eat, how can I change this?
I need to lose weight and reverse my pre diabetes.

Try 3 meals a day, no snacking and some exercise (which is essential).

Small breakfast
Sandwich lunch followed by a walk for rest of lunchbreak
Hearty dinner and a walk if weather is good

No snacks or sugar laced drinks in the house.

Be strong, no deviation.

I've found intermittent fasting really helpful. My eating window starts quite late in the day and I absolutely HATE it if I have to hit "complete fast" on my fasting app too early. This could also help stop snacking at the other end of the day if you're a breakfast person.

I also agree with getting out for a walk at lunchtime if you can. I walk the dog for 20 mins instead of snacking.

Or find a more interesting job?

On the plus side, working from home means you're not passing shops every day on your commute. You can only eat what's in the house.

  • Cut out sugary drinks completely as this can be worse than snacking and probably easier to give up
  • Rather than go cold turkey on the snacking, maybe you can buy some celery or another green veg that you can snack on raw
  • A bottle of water by your desk may help with the compulsion to consume something and help with feelings of hunger
  • Don't take any money with you when you leave the house unless you actually need it

fast 800 diet, just try and get through 12 weeks, it totally changes your eating habits forever in my opinion. I no longer snack or eat any processed food, I was 4 stone overweight. I’m slimmer now than I was in my 20’s (now 52).

I found the most effective way is not having any junk in the house so if you're hungry, you either have to eat healthy stuff or get up and go out, which is often enough to break the "urge".

Does your GP surgery refer patients to the diabetes prevention programme? Maybe ask.
