I almost feel sorry for her. Almost.

OP posts:
Westfacing · 22/05/2024 10:54

Yes, I'm listening and have no sympathy for her.

The KC is excellent.

WildFlowerBees · 22/05/2024 11:16

I don't feel sorry for her not one bit. I feel sorry for those who had their lives ripped apart and some died without ever getting justice. She can pipe her eyes but the fault lies with her and she needs to own that.

Pedallleur · 22/05/2024 11:45

she is getting a hard time now. tears flowing and the emails coming back to haunt her. £5.1 million in salary over the years so its time to take some responsibility

TheThingIsYeah · 22/05/2024 13:10

Ah yes, another day another scandal. How much is her cover up going to cost me?

Remember, governments don't have money.

So when they're done with the "lessons will be learned" guff, and say "The government will pay £x million in compensation" what they really mean is "YOU will pay £x million in compensation"

Jonisaysitbest · 22/05/2024 13:17

I have no sympathy with her whatsoever. She is part of the appalling cover up that resulted in so many destroyed lives. She knew what was going on and she didn't act. Now it's time to face the consequences for that.

Topjoe19 · 22/05/2024 13:37

She's had it coming for a looong time. Zero sympathy.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 23/05/2024 13:52

I'm listening too, on and off. I don't believe she was anything like as incompetent as she would now have us believe. She was paid over £4.5million pounds during that period, yet she "didn't know", "wasn't aware", "haven't previously seen", etc etc, all the way through the enquiry. And every suspicious/potentially incriminating document apparently does not mean what it's looks like it means. Yeah right.

It's just boring actually-she is just sitting there and denying everything.

beguilingeyes · 23/05/2024 14:09

She disgusts me. These awful scandals keep happening and nobody is every accountable. How can they all get away with pretending not to remember (or losing their Whatsapps).

Geppili · 23/05/2024 14:11

She is despicable. Full of wily words, deflection, and the crocodile tears.

TitusMoan · 23/05/2024 14:12

How is all this lying sitting with her Christian faith? I don’t know how she sleeps at night. But I bet she does.

decionsdecisions62 · 23/05/2024 14:16

You obviously didn't watch the recent drama about it. If you did I'm not sure why you would feel sorry for her!

Jonisaysitbest · 23/05/2024 17:35

Four people took their own lives over this scandal.
How dare she cry for herself when four families lost loved ones and hundreds of others lost their reputations, livelihoods, marriages, homes.
She is not the only one though, this was a cover up that involved many people. It's time those that didn't act face true justice.
And that's why Ed Davey won't get my vote too.

wulzcat23 · 23/05/2024 20:26

I don’t feel sorry for her at all. How can a top-earning ceo of a company who has had years to pore over every document in preparation for this have the nerve to sit there and say ‘i think’ ‘It was my understanding’ ‘I don’t recall’ ‘that was my recollection’ over and over again and pretend she didn’t know, didn’t understand or didn’t mean things she said and did. I notice she didn’t bother crying today as she must have realised it didn’t wash. Nobody genuinely crying would reach for the tissues so quickly, or stop when the KC told her to compose herself. She blinks excessively which is a known sign of lying. I can’t believe what I’m seeing when she’s on the stand, it may sound extreme but it reminds me of the phrase ‘the banality of evil’ which was used about top Nazi Eichmann when he was put on trial and appeared to be a bland middle manager. She makes me think of the worst atrocities connected with the church, the cover ups of child abuse, the colonial cruelties, all carried out with emotionless practicality and sanctimonious blandness . Horrible horrible horrible.

Ginkypig · 23/05/2024 21:01

She absolutely knew more than she is trying to say she knows now.

shed have to have been completely and overwhelmingly stupid and incompetent not to!

they are reading out evidence of correspondence that all but show her discussions covering up things or how much money it would cost the company if certain things were investigated which would be bad and hopefully avoided to which she’s replying on being presented with the evidence no can’t recall that or I don’t remember that conversation being about that.

she a slimy underhanded piece of crap and she’s only crying now because she’s been caught and can’t get out of it this time.

Thevelvelletes · 23/05/2024 21:16

Another slimey fucker caught out.
Crocodile tears 😭 😭

wulzcat23 · 23/05/2024 21:24

The other thing that’s obvious is that she is always guided by other people and doesn’t seem to have any thoughts of her own, which tracks as she comes across as amazingly stupid whichever way you look at it. But all her ‘i don’t remember’ ‘as I recall it’ is probably what her PR people have told her to say, and not admit to ANYTHING. No spine whatsoever. No decency. She’s the worst specimen of a human.

Blackcats7 · 23/05/2024 21:27

Why on earth would you feel sorry for her???
Her defence is:
I am so nice that I trust people too much ( didn’t trust the sub post masters and mistresses though)
I didn’t understand ( CEO of the Post Office!)
Nobody told me (really?!!!)
All she has lost is her undeserved OBE. People lost their lives, their liberty, their homes, their businesses, their families and their reputation.
She is the worst kind of so called religious person. Not much charity shown but happy to go along to church and hold forth on her faith and the power of jesus. What a load of bollocks. I dearly hope somebody goes to prison for all of this but of course nobody will. By and large prison is for ordinary people not those in power.

SheilaFentiman · 23/05/2024 21:32

Either she’s the stupidest CEO in the history of ever, or she’s a lying liar who lies.

I think the latter.

Calling · 23/05/2024 21:37

I do admire Mr Beer KC. However, I am angry at Vennells and cannot watch her for too long.

He is excellent. And he has done well not to lose his temper. Though I have seen the odd bitten tongue.

Abhannmor · 23/05/2024 21:48

Trying to dig up some mental health issues on that poor guy who took his own life. How bad is that.

Elsewhere123 · 23/05/2024 21:50

She is a disgrace. Highly paid for what? How about a CEO earns a maximum of 20 times the lowest paid full time worker.

Princesspollyyy · 23/05/2024 23:10

CurlewKate · 22/05/2024 10:50

I almost feel sorry for her. Almost.

Please explain fully how and why you feel remotely sorry for her in the slightest??

You go know that people took their own lives due to being wrongfully convicted? People went to prison for crimes they did not commit? Families torn apart??

I would love to hear your reasoning.

Calling · 25/05/2024 11:22

Ooh, the last lawyer let rip yesterday!!!

LongSinceGotUpAndGone · 25/05/2024 11:56

No sympathy for her - she is sitting there lying through her teeth.

Look at the awful emails she was sending - when she was ordained as a Christian minister! The level of dishonesty and hypocrisy is not just bad, it's frightening.

Vennells is a dangerous woman.
