Anyone else ill?

I luckily very rarely get ill but whatever this is has taken me down!

Sunday afternoon sore throat came out of the blue and by Sunday evening I wanted to take off my head and throw it away because it was pounding! Monday much the same but now a cough has joined it and yesterday I came out with a full blown cold, chesty cough that hurts every part of me and a head that hurts every time I move. No idea where I've picked it up and rest of the family are ok.

Anyone else have this? Basically just looking for some sympathy because I have the most unsympathetic husband ever and only my 10 year old dd seems to care!!

I had the awful chest rattling cough end of March / beginning of April. It's taken me weeks to recover and I am still not 100%. Got fully checked out a few weeks ago as my breathing was so bad - chest x-ray, blood tests, covid test (negative), the lot. They said it was viral and I had to have a nebuliser in hosp and was sent home with inhalers. They thought it might be RSV as my baby had bronchiolitis at the same time.

Sympathies to everyone. It was REALLY horrible and sounds similar to what several of you describe. I had not been so ill in years.

Yep! I have the most horrendous chesty cough for the past two weeks. All my muscles in my chest are hurting from the endless coughing. It's horrible. I'm so tired as I am sleeping badly

I never get chesty coughs but this one is awful, it's feels like it's really deep if that makes sense and it's so painful! Head still hurting and I'm blowing my nose a thousand times a day.

Hope you both feel better soon.

Yes my chesty cough is exactly the same. Feels like it's really deep down in my chest. The noise when I cough is horrific

I had it for about 5 weeks and still have a cough. There's a thread from a couple of months ago, lots of people had the same sort of thing. It's bloody awful and I really feel for you . Hope you recover soon.

Is anyone else feeling down with viruses / coughs taking so long to clear?

CampervanKween · 24/05/2024 13:11

Yes, I used to take a lemsip, have an early night and I was fine in the morning. Post covid I'm ill for months. Bit of a gutter.

Cloud44 · 24/05/2024 13:24

How are you feeling today OP? Has anyone got any advice on how to shift fatigue / ear ache - blocked ear type thing?!

TheHorneSection · 24/05/2024 19:27

Have you tried an ear balloon? They sound silly but they work really well when I get a lot of sinus pressure. You can get them on Amazon.

Cloud44 · 24/05/2024 19:33

Ive not even heard of them @TheHorneSection ?! Don’t suppose you have a link of one you have tried?

LollipopViolet · 24/05/2024 19:50

Started with it on Friday. Snotty nose, had a slight sore throat. The throat has cleared up, I've blown my nose 40,000 times since Friday, and I've got the cough. The cough is the worst bit - my poor chest muscles.

I am feeling better, so hoping the cold and flu meds are kicking it out.

Sorry for the awful link!

frecklejuice · 25/05/2024 11:25

Still her and still ill! It will be a full week tomorrow since the sore throat started and I wish I could just swap my head with someone else's,

I'm sleeping really deeply but feel exhausted from the minute I wake up, my head/face feels all congested and stuffy and I have no energy. No idea what this is but it needs to go away now! I've also managed to give it to my 10 year old but at the moment she "just" has a cold and then husband woke up with a sore throat but he's still gone to golf so can't be that bad 🙄

Hope everyone else starts to feel better soon.

@Cloud44 that's exactly what I was saying to my Mum, I used to be able to shake a cold off within 2-3 days and now it's a week. My Mum really struggles with all illnesses now ever since she had Covid quite badly.

It's just miserable.

I had what was probably Covid at the start of May, a sprained ankle to contend with and I kicked off this bank holiday weekend with a vile vomiting bug. Pretty fed up! Hope everyone feels better soon

Cloud44 · 27/05/2024 17:57

Is anyone else experiencing a virus which is mostly awful fatigue that just won’t shift?

Iceache · 27/05/2024 19:39

I started this weekend with a dreadful d&v bug! I never ever ever get sick and I’ve no idea where it came from!

Chouette77 · 30/05/2024 14:06

Me too, tested positive for Covid today though
