Street food & walk near Waterloo

A friend and I are staying in Waterloo premier inn (cheap & cheerful) tomorrow night, plans on Thursday. We don't go to London very often. Can anyone recommend a nice route to wander in the evening maybe along the river with some street food places? Weather depending....Or somewhere funky to eat but doesn't cost a fortune or have to travel far. Very have a jam packed day on Thursday. Thank you if you have any tips

Southbank towards Tate Modern and London Bridge

Down ( I think) towards borough market. Loads to eat in there. Think there are other little food markets along the riverup the river. I love walking along the ThamesCan also cross the river on the millennium bridge ( I think) to St Pauls and I often stop in the salavation army cafe just over the bridge. Am a bit vague on exactly the route sorry loads around there. Also towards elephant and castle there is the outdoor mercanto metropolitan (?). Not sure how far to walk.
Bumping really for you for more replies and think I am staying in the same hotel for the Taylor swift concert in June so going to follow.

Yes, Southbank. The embankment is practically next to Waterloo station and if gas loads if street-food places. There’s also a street food market next to the Southbank centre.

You are right by Lower Marsh which has some lovely coffee shops, bars and restaurants.
The scooter cafe is great.
You are also by the graffiti tunnel and there are some bars in the arches there.
The BFI bar on the river is great and there is also a food market at the weekends.

Just saw you mentioned Mercarto.
Only a 15 minute walk from Waterloo and worth a visit

Seconding Lower Marsh if you don’t want to go far - ok Thai and there is a busy little Korean cafe / restaurant too - at least there was last year! Or along the cut is Meson Don Felipe for tapas.

For a walk either way along the river is easy.

Following for ideas. I’d say the Southbank walk along the river towards Borough market.

There’s also Gabriel’s Wharf on the south bank before you get to Tate Modern which has a pizza place, bar, creperie. Often some food vans riverside too, but I haven’t been there in the evening recently. Just wander, you won’t go hungry.
