Have 4k left. Have savings, but will be on statutory mat leave from the summer.

4k wont make a huge dent to me but is there any point paying it off if i dont need to?

It depends which scheme you're on but it's probably not worth it, no.

Plan 1

I wouldn't. If a crisis comes up and you need money, £4K is of more use than a "thank you note" from the Student Loan Co.

Depends what you mean by "won't make a huge dent".

If you've got loads of savings I'd probably just do it as interest will still be building up while you're on mat leave but you won't be paying anything back while you're on statutory pay.

I have around 50 k in savings. and another 10k or so floating around in other accounts. i dont know how much a baby will cost me in the first year while not working. Im a single mum and will be staying with my family so childcare that way wont be an issue

In that case I probably would pay it off. The current interest rate on plan 1 is 6.25%.
