Civil wedding ceremony

We’re getting married in a registry office soon and I’ve never been to a registry office wedding venue. As part of the intro we have the option to have a brief intro to us and ‘our story’. They suggest about 150 words.

For anyone that’s been to a ceremony like this, what sort of thing did you say? I feel a bit weird having someone we’ve never met before introduce us to our nearest and dearest

also, I know we can’t have anything religious but we would like vows that echo the traditional C of E ones (to love, honour and cherish, in sickness and in health, etc) as closely as possible - does anyone have any suggestions for wording that they know is acceptable?

We had this. It was more the story of how we got together, and we each had to write our own version. I think it was part of them checking we were a legitimate couple.
It was actually nice having them read out at the start, as not everyone there knew our full story, some had been there when we got together, but others weren't. So it brought everyone onto the same page.
