What does this emoji mean?

It looks like a small block of horizontal lines. Not sure it's even an emoji so sorry if I'm using the wrong terminology!

I've been seeing it used a lot lately - it seems to mean thank you? But why and what is it?!

I've no idea what this is, can you find it in your emoji list?

Could it be your browser's not viewing the emoji correctly so it shows as 3 lines? A bit like sometimes seeing a square box instead.

I'm curious now - it would be good to see a pic of an example.

It means your computer/device doesn’t have the poster’s intended emoji installed, so it displays those lines as a placeholder.

Go to settings - is your device due an update?

Yes I think your device needs updating. Older phones aren't always able to support the update so it could be that.
