Keratin Smoothing Treatment

Hi all

I've had The keratin smoothing treatment done at Hobs Salon. My hair over night has gone wavy around the crown. I'm not even 24hours in - should I use a straightener to smooth over it like they did?

Yes. Don't spray anything on it. Just re straighten it whenever it needs it.

Msplove · 19/05/2024 13:19

@NewDogOwner Thanks! Have you had it done before?

I had this with the bits at the back of my head. Thi k it's the way I sleep! Just straighten it out again and leave for as long as possible before washing.

@JustPickleRick thanks for this. My hair is soo curly and frizzy especially around the crown so I'm praying it works. Did you have it done at hobs salon?

I've got very thick, curly hair too. I get so hot when I sleep so the nape of my neck always curls first 🙄
I had mine done at my local salon, I've had it done about 4 times now. I think they're great, especially for the summer months. It's hard to manage the few days of no wash though as the hair is so lank and straight 😅

@JustPickleRick ahh so you've had the one that makes it straight. Apparantly the one I've had done removes the frizz but allows me to keep the curls.

I've been so fed up of trying to do my hair nicely, then the minute I leave the house it puffs up and frizzes. Fingers crossed!

I've had this done - I believe it's called a brazillian blow dry! I also have really thick curly hair and the transformation has been amazing for me! I always re straighten and try to wait 4/5 days before washing it with a sulfate free shampoo/conditioner! Straightening my hair takes less than half the time it did before and its nice to have the option to wear it curly too!

@JustPickleRick this sounds amazing!! I use the babyliss big hair Rotating brush to style my curls into a bouncy curly blowdry but it always friezes no matter what product I use but does tend to hold a curl. I hope it still does hold a curl just without the poodle puff haha.

I was told I cam wash it after 24hours but for best results to keep in for 48hours?

@JustPickleRick okay they've said leave it in for 3 days.. does leaving it for 4-5 days make it even better?

As long as I can managep is what I was told so I left it like 3 or 4 days 😅. It's definitely a defrosting treatment rather than a straightening one. It's called kerasilk treatment or something along those lines. I can still curl it, it just means it doesn't frizz up like normal, it was great for when I went on holiday!

JustPickleRick · 21/05/2024 18:10

That should say defrizzing haha

I had a keratin smoothing treatment in the past. You can straighten over it, it’s important you do so tbh so your hair doesn’t set in the wavy style longer term.

Personally I felt the treatment was too heavy for my hair. If I’d get it done again, I’d skip the entire root section to leave me some volume. My hair was left completely limp and lifeless

Msplove · 22/05/2024 13:59

@JustPickleRick Lol so I left it in for 3.5 days and it's SOOOOO smooth but I've just styled my hair and it doesn't gold the curl anymore. Any tips? I used to use the babyliss Rotating brush and now the airwrap
