Hi all, went outside before and saw a baby sparrow beside the door of my back yard. I went to leave it some water and a plastic container which I filled with cotton wool and leaves/some bread and it’s flew inside 😩😩 I tried catching it with gloves a few times to put back in the garden and kept all doors open but it’s just staying put in a corner of my sitting room hiding behind one of ds toys.
what’s the best way to get it out/help it. Must be so scared bless it. It cheeps every so often and can hear the sparrows outside cheeping too.
Any advice appreciated!!

I’d throw a blanket or a box on top of where it is to make it easier to grab it or shufty it into the box or just try and get behind it or get something behind it like a piece of cardboard to get it moving in the direction of the window. I have to do this at least one a year when the swifts come 😂

Yes throw a tea towel over it gently scoop it up and return outside, and remove the bread, birds, especially youngsters should not eat bread. Keep an eye out for cats getting close but all being well its parents will come back.

Once you've caught it, shut your doors and windows and please don't give it anything (cotton wool and bread could be harmful).
