Exploring Cardiff without a car

I can't drive. (Not for a lack of trying. I just can't seem to get it)

Is Cardiff explorable for me without a car? Do I need to reply on taxis?

It’s not that big and the city centre is definitely all walkable (castle, gardens etc).

Cardiff bay is also walkable (about 20 mins) but there’s also a train to the bay from the Queen Street station or there’s a boat trip down from the quay at Sophia Gardens.

You don’t need a car at all.

Cardiff is only little. You'd probably want to get a bus/train between the centre and the Bay because it's quite a boring walk, but CityMapper/Google will guide you on how to do that, or it's a cheap taxi if you prefer.

What do you want to see? If you want to visit the castle, museum shops etc then yes, you get off the train in Cardiff Central and it's all there in within a few minutes walk.

You can see plenty without a car. I'd recommend visiting Penarth too which is a short train journey.

It's small and there's buses if need be.

I’m here now without a car - super walkable city. It’s even easy to walk to Penarth along the barrage from the Bay. Fabulous city.

depends which way you go? Walking along bute street is boring but very do-able, (20 mins?), (and tbh I wouldn't do it at night), walking along the taff is much nicer and not much longer. Or you could get the water taxi, or the bus is only £2.20.

But yeah, you can do Cardiff without a car no problem. The only things that tourists like to do that are slightly further out are Castell Coch and St Fagans, but you can get to both by bus.
