I need your help to plan this party

My sister is 50 next month. BIL was planning to have a party for her a home but he is not too well at the moment so I have offered to have the party at ours and to sort the food, decorations etc.

He wants a Hawaiian theme because he's booked to take her there as a surprise at the end of the year, so I need ideas for decorations and a buffet please! The food doesn't need to be particularly Hawaiian, just relatively simple and easy to eat!

I would so appreciate your input!

Blow up palm tree. We had one for my parents Caribbean themed 40th anniversary party. Then it was a tropical Christmas tree and even appeared on stage as a prop in our panto!
Find a tropical decorations pack on Amazon.
Food - anything with pineapple or coconut.

You need a Tiki bar set up with alcoholic and non alcoholic fruit punch and drinks. A generous buffet with veggie & meat options with pineapples & tropical fresh fruit salad.

Hawaiian pizza!

Plus a DJ booth set up with someone playing summery tunes.

during lockdown we had a hawaiian themed birthday party for dh.

Tiki bar signs. Unexpected hit was leis hung on the washing line.
agree blowup palm trees, flamingos. Big pineapple hanging decorations-the ones that come flat and you open iyswim.

you can get lots of fun bar accessories for cocktails.

we did some themed cocktails as well.

everyone wore hawaiian shirts.

Really fun theme

Following several recent threads on buffet / barbecue catering - if you have any vegetarians coming, have mainly veggie food with some meat.

This is because everyone will eat the vegetarian options, whether as mains or sides, and you need to be sure that the vegetarians get enough to eat.

Great ideas, thank you!

Plenty of pineapple. It’s especially good when sliced and cooked on a barbecue.
