Rare day out with DH - Lincoln or Sheffield?

Both are 45 minutes away from where we live. Don’t want it any longer due to school finish.

I’m really unnecessarily procrastinating about it, it’s really pathetic

I want a nice mooch around shops and have some really good food for lunch

Unless you're planning to go to Meadowhall there aren't that many shops to mooch around on Sheffield high street anymore!

I like Sheffield but wouldn't pick it for a day out, personally. Lincoln is very pretty.

Lincoln. Sheffield is pretty dire in the city centre nowadays (I live here!)

Lincoln has a nice mix of things.
There are some historical things to see: Lincoln Guidhall does free tours & it's located on the High Street where the main shops are. If you venture up the Steep Hill, you reach The Bail. Lots to see - the Cathedral & Castle, plus lots of lovely individual shops.
Plenty of nice little coffee shops along the way.

If you head towards the university, you will see The Brayford pool. It's a small marina full of boats and along oneside is a decent selection of restaurants & pubs.

Thoroughly recommend Lincoln but make sure you have lots of puff for the hill!!

Definitely Lincoln. We went to Sheffield recently for an event, was going to spend the next day there but had seen everything in a morning so we went to a country house instead on the way home! Lincoln is beautiful. Although thecsreet food market in Sheffield was 😋
