Anyone else try to go away for their birthday to avoid family?

Just wondered if I was the only one but I find birthdays stressful with having to receive visitors. I know it sounds ungrateful but people asking when they can pop over with a card or present annoys me when I just want to do my own thing and not have to be home at certain times. Having to clean the house and entertain is not what I want to do for my birthday. I'd rather them not bother getting me anything and just leaving me alone to enjoy my time how I'd like.

I have those who insist that I have to be home even if it's just a card they could post or put through the letterbox. I had a family member who was insisting that my son has his present before his birthday but that she couldn't be bothered to drive to my house because of the traffic so could I go to hers and collect it 🙄

I've actually booked a long weekend away for my birthday so I can avoid it all 🤣 then I can just spend my weekend with the people I actually want to spend time with (husband and kids)

Am I an ungrateful bitch or do other ppl understand where I am coming from?

why don’t you make spending your free time with people that you actually want to be with your general philosophy in life

🤣 yes you're right. I sent my husband to get it seeing as it was a member of his family. I really didn't understand why they were so insistent that he couldn't just have stuff after his birthday

I do find it hard to do all the birthday stuff with family I must admit. Having to host etc. I prefer the ordinary days to be honest! I appreciate what people do for me and the effort but there is part of me that is looking forward to it being over for another year.
