Got the heating on

Just come back in from work to a damp chilly flat and put the heating on. Can't believe how much the weather's changed since last week - it's damp and foggy and awful. Fed up of using the heating too tbh but I don't want to leave the flat damp either because it gets mouldy 😞😞😞

Anyone else feeling the same?

That's awful. We must be having freak weather, it's glorious again here.

Dreadful here. Jumper and leggings back on. Husband is of the view that doors and windows must be open because it's May. He walking around opening them and I'm following behind closing them. It's going to be a long day.

Crazy how different it is
Going to be 21c here today, lovely and sunny and my neighbours are sat out

My heating has just come back on now - it's set to 16.5/17.5 (can't remember which) and it's come on. It's sunny but windy outside and is about 14c ☹️

Op, please say you have a proper dehumidifier? Heating won't remove the moisture. You need to run it constantly to dry out your flat.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 18/05/2024 18:04

Mine's been kicking in too, it's set at 18°, the house is old, poorly insulated and single glazed. I have a small child with complex disabilities, he is immobile and has been in and out of hospital since Feb with chest infections. His health trumps the fact it's May and some people think heating shouldn't be on in May.

North East Coast!

Of England or the of the UK?

  • there's a big difference between Northumberland and Caithness temperature wise.

Gosh do you want my address?

Hartlepool.

Do have a dehumidifier but it's at my sister's currently - will get it back tomorrow (her need was greater than mine after a leak in her kitchen!)

@Ratfinkstinkypink oh that sounds really hard. I'm sorry, wishing you some warmth and sunshine too!

It's cloudy but mild, though the other night was tempted to put the gas fire on! In fact I'm so much in credit with the gas company I should have!
It's not summer yet - the weather still has a chance to redeem itself!

Really? Our house is boiling, have had all the windows open to try and cool it down, been sunny most the week. I’m in the south though

No thanks. They would be weird.

It's just that there's hundreds miles difference and degrees Celsius depending on which north east coast you mean.

marshmallowfinder · 19/05/2024 10:38

No answer about the dehumidifier? It's essential, especially if your humidity is that high. Then you won't actually need the heating on OP. You need to draw out all this moisture. No wonder your home is damp.

@marshmallowfinder

Though I am getting it back today because the one she ordered has arrived!
