How to work out my annual salary

Comfysock · 17/05/2024 10:55

So I want to know what my proforma based salary is based on i.e. what my salary would be if I worked full time
I work:

4 x days per week
7.5 hours a day
I have my gross pay.

What formula can I use to work out my annual salary not proforma salary if that makes sense!

Can you not just divide by 4 and times by 5

PoppingTomorrow · 17/05/2024 10:57

Do you mean pro rata?

What is "full time" where you work?

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 17/05/2024 11:02

Divide by 4 gives you your daily salary
X5 gives you a week
X that by 52 for yearly
Divide that by 12 for monthly

Go to Listen to Tax Man website for an NI/Tax calculator to work out your net pay

Yes divide by four and times by five, if you mean pro rata. If full time is 37.5.

Sorry just realised you are starting with just your annual gross.

Ok so annual gross is £20,000

Divide by 52 - weekly
Divide by 4 - daily

20000/52 = £384.62
384.62/4 = £96.15

Then you can work out what 5 days would be

96.15 x 5 = 480.77
480.77 x 52 = £25,000

I found this pretty accurate.

OP isn’t asking about take home? Or are they?

UPDATE
I just want to know...
If I were to work say 5 days a week what my annual salary is before tax.

It stemmed from me and DH sorting a few financial things out and he ask me what I was on a year if I worked full.time e.g 5 days a week and I didnt know

This is the easiest way to do it. If you earn £25,000 working 4 days, you do £25,000 divided by 4 (which is £6,250). Multiply that by 5 to get your full time rate: £6,250 x 5 = £31,250. That's your full time salary.

Which is the same as dividing the annual salary by 4 and multiplying by 5 without all the long winded daily/ weekly calculations.
