I'm trying to remember an anecdote that for my mums funeral and it hinges on a type of bird called a "bloody..." something. It was on a tea towel or bird varieties.

Can anyone help, know of any birds called a bloody something?

According to Wikipedia there are a few birds that might match - like the Blood Pheasant?
do you think it could have been Boobie? Seems a little more likely for the UK.

Shrike?

Yes, aka butcher bird. Is this any closer?

I am so sorry for your loss.

Misheard the title and came on to suggest Cheryl the Crow...

Sorry for your loss op.

I don't think there's any British 'Bloody...' birds.

Maybe you've misremembered and it was an avian-sounding flower - the Bloody Cranesbill?

ErrolTheDragon · 17/05/2024 10:55

Or could it have been some other rude-sounding birds - Ruddy duck, great bustard, common shag ?

AuntieDolly · 17/05/2024 10:57

Or a boobie?
