My 15 yr old son is a good sleeper in general but finds it hard to switch off so often ends up going to sleep quite late and then wrecked in the morning, can't get out of bed.
He is being assessed for ADHD. He doesn't have phone at night. We take it off him when we are going to bed.
Anyway I got some melatonin (got it for myself for after night shift) and gave it to him the other night, he fell straight asleep at 10pm and hopped out of bed the next morning. Since then he is loving them and asking for them every night! They are 10mg so cut them into quarters so he's taking 2.5mg. Am I encouraging a dependency on them? Is he likely to move onto sleeping tablets as he gets older. I wouldn't question it if he didn't sleep well at all but considering he just has difficulty switching off..
