Easiest way to add a modesty panel to this dress, or cover up a bit more flesh!?

I'm a fairly experienced sew(er/ist?) but have never inserted a modesty panel into an item of clothing before.

I'm having a bit of an Eras Tour outfit crisis with 4 weeks until we go 🙄 & have just bought this hoping it'll be "the one" but it's far too revealing for my wonky boobs so needs a little adjusting.

Maybe a lace bralette from Primark - one of the bandeau type ones? & boob tape the dress to myself? Might be quicker than sewing 🤔

Any thoughts/ideas would be greatfully received at this point before I end up going in my bra & pants 🤣

Is there any way you could get a triangle of lace from one of the panels to insert?
Love the dress btw.

Can you get hold of a sequin bralet or bandeau to give it a bit of sparkle at the top?

merrymelodies · 16/05/2024 20:25

I think the word you're looking for is seamstress. I'll let more experienced hands assist you with the modesty panel!

lucysmam · 16/05/2024 20:29

@merrymelodies yes! Seamstress! Thank you - total blank moment 🤣

@Fizzadora I'll see when it gets here - I may be able to match the lace closely enough with some lacey fabric if not.

@CheeseWisely I hadn't considered sequins, I'll be off to hunt Vinted again, see what I can find.

I have a high bust line and alter lots of necklines so they are not too revealing. It can often be done with very little work. Alternatively, I wear a vest or camisole in suitable colour. What does the dress look like and what is the material like ?

Achdinnae · 16/05/2024 20:44

Sorry, posted before saw picture ! That is such a beautiful dress and so low that I'd just go with body tape and not try anything else.

lucysmam · 16/05/2024 20:52

@CMOTDibbler that's the sort of thing I was thinking.

@Achdinnae I'm not sure I'm brave enough for that! I'll see when it gets here.

You, or your dressmaker could insert nude powermesh into the V neck, or pale pink if you can get it, otherwise, a modesty panel which fastens to the bra would work.

Try it on with your best bra, & see how it looks.
