Question about sun cream

OneLemonOrca · 16/05/2024 18:58

If you are meant to wear the highest SPF level of sun cream why are there 15 and 20 or 30 SPF levels available when there is 50 SPF?

Because there is a market for it. People want a tan

RobinEllacotStrike · 16/05/2024 19:07

Wearing spf50 isn't the law here.

I wear 30 or 50 and still tan if I sunbathe but I am pale.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 16/05/2024 19:11

Because everyones skin is different and not everyone needs SPF50?

People want options. They may want to tan, they may just not like the 50 or other reasons.

There's barely any difference if any between SPF 30 and SPF 50 anyway

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/05/2024 17:13

there are arguments that SPF50 is a misnomer - you will sweat it off before you get the full "50" protection over time. Whereas if you use a lower factor you are more likely to reapply more often & are better protected

Some 50s only have a UVA of 2 or 3 stars.. where as some 30s have a UVA of 5 stars ..
The stars are the most important..
Always go for a 5 star.
