Good cover bands worth seeing

What cover bands have you seen that’s worth watching. For me, two spring to mind.

Illegal Eagles - superb band. Good musicianship. I’m wasn’t even a huge Eagles fan when I first saw them (80s teenager) but love this band.

Sound of Springsteen - saw this in local theatre. Fabulous night. Really good concert. The singer is really good.

I second Cloudbusting.

OdeToBarney · 16/05/2024 08:43

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac 😍 I've been twice and will go again!

ZaZathecat · 16/05/2024 08:46

Tribute band, you mean? The Rozzers (The Police) are great

Dbank · 16/05/2024 08:49

Simply Dan (Steely Dan)

CleanShirt · 16/05/2024 08:50

I go and see The Smyths at least a couple of times a year, they're fabulous.

lostinlego · 16/05/2024 08:54

Daft funk, were great.

Acinonyx2 · 16/05/2024 08:54

Another vote for The Smyths.

Doingthework · 16/05/2024 08:58

Clone Roses are awesome as are The Smiths Ltd if you’re into your Manchester bands. I’ve only seen them in Northern venues but atmosphere has always been good too.

AnnPerkins · 16/05/2024 09:08

The Cureheads and Siouxsie & The Budgiees are a good night out.

Churchview · 16/05/2024 09:34

The Ramonas - a group of absolutely kick ass women who cover the Ramones and do their own stuff too. I've seen the Ramones twice and these girls more than do them justice. Honestly, the best night out.

beguilingeyes · 16/05/2024 09:37

Limehouse Lizzy are fantastic.
Nearly Dan we see a lot and a recent convert to Simply Dan who are amazing.

I saw them at The Half Moon last week and will definitely fit in at least one more London show!

Try again...! Sancto sanctorium (sp?) If you like your goth/ rock. They cover the cure, the cult, the mission, sisters of mercy, Bauhaus etc. Blown away by them and closest thing I've found to the real deal. On uk tour at present and already gaining a huge following.

OutingPosts · 16/05/2024 12:10

Another vote for Australian Pink Floyd. Also Perfect Alibi.

I've always wanted to see Skinny Lennards just because the name is so good.

MaMisled · 16/05/2024 12:11

Another vote for Rumours of Fleetwood Mac.

ComtesseDeSpair · 16/05/2024 12:12

Fleetmac Wood - they do EDM / techno dance remixes of Fleetwood Mac, and always end a gig with a remix of The Chain. Great fun.

ALongHardWinter · 17/05/2024 00:18

I've seen The Bootleg Beatles 3 times, they were excellent. I've seen Limehouse Lizzy 7 times now because I like them so much. Also Straighten Out,a cover/tribute band for The Stranglers, also very good. I think my favourite has to be Forced to Mode,a Depeche Mode cover band. They just blew me away. Especially as they do DM tracks that DM themselves don't do live anymore!

Sandwichgen · 17/05/2024 00:21

Bjorn Again are an awesome ABBA tribute band

beguilingeyes · 17/05/2024 06:41

The Stranglers themselves are pretty much a tribute act these days though aren't they? It's just JJ Burnel. It's happening a lot with the older bands. Yes just has Steve Howe. Status Quo is Francis Rossi...and still they rumble on. See also Queen.
I got the name of my Steely Dan tribute wrong. It's Reelin' In The Dan, which is a terrible name, but they're new-ish and a fantastic band.
