Birthday party! Year 7 help!

Hello my DD age 12 has not been invited to one of her best friend’s (in her eyes anyway) birthday celebrations. There was a group of 5 of them at their Primary School. At secondary they’re in different classes and don’t see each other much, but they do a lot of sport together and have play dates.

DD is so very sad, she tried to contain her tears but it got her super down. I am good friends with the Mum too. I told my DD it’s ok, friendships change. I won’t be saying anything to my friend because it’s not up to me to say you should have invited her, but it’s made me so sad too! As we’re all good friends!

This is a common thing to happen, the friend has found some new friends at secondary school. She’s still your DD’s friend but has new ones too. Try and encourage your DD to do the same. I remember having my new school friends, my friends who went to my secondary but were in different classes and then my friends who went to different secondaries.
Could you take your DD out for a treat on the day of the party?

Thanks @YorkNew inthink she’s the only one out of the original 5 not invited. I’m away at the weekend but I’ll ask DH to do something special
