Should I ask for delivery charge refund? Or let it lie.

I ordered something and paid extra for a Saturday delivery because I knew I would be in and out this week. They delivered it today when luckily, I was in, though I had been out, and went out again later iyswim.

I am pleased I have the delivery safe, also pleased it has now freed up Saturday, but very slightly pissed that I paid extra for a service they didn’t give me.

Should I swallow it up and think “ Well it’s here now .” Or ask for a refund because they have taken an extra £5.00 off me then just done a bog standard delivery which by lucky chance caught me in.

Yes, ask for a refund. It's the principle of the thing. Something delivered today instead of Saturday could be out-of-date by the time it is needed.

I’m confused should it of been delivered Saturday just gone or Saturday coming up?

tothelefttotheleft · 15/05/2024 19:36

I would get the money back but to me £5 is a lot and worth the effort.

Glenthebattleostrich · 15/05/2024 19:37

definitely ask for the money back.

Saturday coming up, so delivered early. If it had been delivered late there would be no question about getting the extra delivery charge back!

Part of me thinks I’d save myself the hassle and leave it but if it came as standard delivery and you was charged like £9 or something out of principle I’d ask for a refund for the difference

On principle I'd insist on a refund.

You got the item early - great, happy days - but you did not receive the service you paid for.

pambeesleyhalpert · 16/05/2024 11:18

Yeah I always do! you paid for a service and it didn't deliver on time!

pambeesleyhalpert · 16/05/2024 11:19

Oh wait I just saw jr was early. I'd leave it then

Jellyx · 16/05/2024 11:23

You could have been ordering a package secretly and could only have wanted it in a Saturday. It arriving early could have caused a ruined surprise.

Message and advise that although you're pleased delivery is quick you scheduled for a Saturday delivery to avoid an uncomfortable situation - delivery arrived in a different day and thus you want refunded for the service you paid for.

I would ask for the refund
