SuperDigital varifocals

It's my first time wearing varifocal lenses and I went for the most expensive pair from Specsavers as they were supposed to have the least distortion at the sides.

I've already been back once to have them adjusted as when I was walking everything was going in and out of focus. The adjustment sorted that out.

I don't know if I was just expecting too much... they said that there would only be minimal distortion, but I can't see in focus with my long vision unless I look straight at something.
I knew I'd have to move my head to see some things close up, but didn't think it would be this bad!

What's frustrating is that I've just had cataract surgery so I can now see long distance clearly. It's the middle and short distance that I need the glasses for and I'm finding myself occasionally looking over the top of my glasses for distance, like I used to with my old reading glasses!

Anyway, does anyone else have this particular lens? Do you find that you can see distance clearly across the whole lens or do you need to move your head?

I'm not sure if they just need adjusting or I need to persevere.

Thanks!

Or anyone who has a pair of varifocals
that can comment about the range across their glasses for distance?

Am I not supposed to be able to see off to the left when looking straight ahead for distance?
