for context

Well my Mum's back now and has filled me in on what's occurred with him.

My dad lost sight in one eye on Tuesday. He rang my Mum two days later in a panic, she was abroad, she said to ring the GP and was told to go to specsavers.

He couldn't drive so instead went to our village opticians. They said nothing was wrong with the eye per se but that he may have had a stroke. They said they'd refer him to the eye clinic and he'd hear from them straight away.

He had heard nothing the following day.

The day after that he rang again, and told them and they said to just go to the eye clinic because they'd be aware of him and he'd get seen straight away.

Once my Mum was back she took him to the eye clinic. They'd never heard of him and confirmed they had no referral. Mum rang opticians who confirmed the referral hadn't been acknowledged.

A&E is in the same building so they went there. There was a seven hour wait (normal now?) but he finally got seen. Optician rang him back in the meantime to ask if he still needed the referral and he said 'no point, I am in A&E now!'

He's had a CT scan and been advised he'll hear from the eye clinic.

Eye clinic rang a day later, to tell him he'd soon hear from them? Why?

Such rubbish service. But of course I am glad he's been seen.
