Weird shoulder/chest pain

'ive been woken up by a horrible pain/tightness in my left shoulder. I'm struggling to even pick up my drink or lie down flat.. it doesn't hurt when sitting still just on movement. It's like a pulling tightness but really quite sore. I'm struggling to lie back down, it feels like something is trapped. On certain movements I can feel the tightness come across the top ofy chest. Really uncomfortable. Does anyone know what it could be? It hurts and I've got myself all worked up and scared its something really bad. Not sure whether I need to call 111 or if it's just muscular.

Always get chest pain checked out. Ring 111. Hope you are ok

I've done a triage on my GP website, hopefully simeon will get back to me. It started at 1am this morning and still there but only on certain movements.

As weird as it sounds could it be heartburn? If I have heartburn it radiates down the nerves to my arm and chest etc

Yes I frequently get acid and heartburn but I took some antacids and it hadn't gone away. As I say it's only on movement that it's hurting now.

Does it feel muscular or more internal like lungs/lining? I had a similar problem but it felt more internal and I (wrongly) self diagnosed pleurisy.

It could be cardiac, so definitely get that checked. However, it sounds like the way my frozen shoulder started. Are you perimenopausal, by any chance? Musculoskeletal problems can ramp up as oestrogen drops off.

No I'm early thirties. So don't think so. I don't think it's cardiac as it's only with movement and I can almost feel something trapping kind of stopping me from moving any further. I've an app at the doctor's this afternoon so we will see what they say. I've had some Ibruprofen and it's eased off a touch.

What was yours if you don't mind me asking? I've self diagnosed with a blood clot, heart problem, aortic dissection lol the list goes on.

Seen the GP and they aren't concerned its cardiac as it comes with movement and it's not constant. Said it's most likely a trapped nerve or a pulled muscle.

Ring 111 immediately

Is there any chance you could be pregnant? Shoulder pain is a common indicator of a possible ectopic pregnancy

No not pregnant. I've seen the doc and they said they aren't worried and just a trapped nerve or pulled muscle. I'm still so anxious it's something else though.

I went to A&E as I had spent the night unable to lie down due to the horrendous pain (and no GP slots), but was still struggling when sitting up anyway. I've had pleurisy before and it felt similar enough. They tried to tell me it was a pulled muscle and send me home but they decided to do a specific blood test first which gives a likelihood of blood clots. Thank goodness they did as I had them in both lungs.

If your pain doesn't start to improve with painkillers and rest (no twisting!) then go back. And stay off google 😂Hopefully you do start to improve soon Flowers
