Anyone heard of vaccine failure/ non response and immunity issues?

This is probably quite rare and I'm not hopeful of many responses but thought I would try!

My teen DC after several years of constant respiratory infections was referred to Paediatrics and had detailed immunology tests done. They showed a few things that were low but not at a level that they found particularly concerning. They also did bloods to check response to previous vaccines and I think were surprised when the results showed that my DC had minimal response to the pneumococcal vaccine (given as three doses in baby and toddlerhood). They have recommended vaccination again with the usual child one (13 strains) and also with the one they usually give to at risk/ immunocompromised adults (23 strains).

We have not yet gone back for the follow up appointment after these tests were done, just found out about the vaccination issue. I wondered if anyone else has experienced something like this? Is it likely to be some vaccination blip and that will be the end of it? Should I be asking them to do more tests? If anyone has any advice or experience I would be very grateful.

Just bumping in case anyone around this morning might know something about this.

I haven't responded to some of my vaccinations but I've never been made aware of any concerns as a result. I had to have testing to check my immune system and to look for a few autoimmune conditions have flagged up so it's just left to treat any problems that might turn up as and when. It's only been a problem with things like I've had chicken pox 3 times and glandular fever twice, both of which they say you only get once! Despite having had 5 doses of MMR I have no immunity apparently so I'm extra weary when there are outbreaks.

Thanks so much for commenting @WithOneLook that’s really interesting. Have you been found to have any autoimmune issues? My DC has some allergies but nothing else I’m aware of. I am wondering whether giving more of the same vaccines will work if id didn’t work in the first place. And it hasn’t occurred to me that maybe something like MMR hasn’t worked (they didn’t check that).

No I haven't been diagnosed with any autoimmune conditions although I do have symptoms which would imply there might be something. I have a lot of allergies, and have joint pains/Hypermobility but nothing specific diagnosed.....ehlers danlos syndrome has been suggested a few times but the testing is apparently expensive and their is no treatment/cure beyond the symptoms so there is no real value in pursuing it for me personally at the moment.

I haven't had repeats of all my childhood vaccines just a few or them and never all at once as a standard treatment type, but when specific concerns arose. MMR specifically came to light when I was pregnant and they test for rubella (and then subsequent pregnancy). Having said that, there was a mumps outbreak at uni and I didn't contract it so whilst I don't have the antibodies from vaccination apparently I can't be totally vulnerable if that makes sense. I won't be having a repeat of the MMR after my current pregnancy though, I figure if 5 doses hasn't worked another one is unlikely to.
