What do teen boys wear to weddings these days?

My 15 year old son wants to wear a black suit, but I’m worried he’ll look a bit odd. He’s almost 6 ft and quite slim.

i assumed he’d wear chinos and more casual clothes but I actually have no idea.

Please help!

have you made it clear to him that it isn’t normal attire and he may well really stand out?

A suit and a sullen expression, usually.

He's not visually a child at 6 foot tall - so wearing a suit is more in keeping than a pair of chinos and a shirt, as that's more what the 9 year olds would be wearing.

Does he have a decent (ie, not school) shirt to wear with it? Could you negotiate him down to a dark blue suit instead? If not, it's still fine.

A black suit would be fine. I fail to see why this is an issue. It isn't as though he wants to wear shorts or trackies. He would be able to use it for prom presumably at the end of y11 too.

Great, thanks. I don’t have a problem with him wearing a suit if he isn’t going to look odd. I just haven’t been to a wedding in about 15 years (and then I didn’t really pay attention to what people were wearing).

Happy to get a nice, non-school type shirt.
