What would this dish have been used for?

Hi, I bought this dish on a camping holiday years ago, but I’ve never known what it was really for. It could be for sweets I suppose, or olives.
Id like to know what it was actually made for though.
Does anyone have any idea?

The bowls look round there, but they’re actually oval, and the colors are more vivid.
