£1.89 for a Wispa in WH Smith, WTF?

I was just charged this in WH Smith in Gatwick. Not an extra large one, not a “Duo”, a bog standard 36g basic Wispa.

What would you pay in a corner shop? I’d expect about £1 maybe?

What a bunch of total profiteers. Wasn’t even airside.

That’s kind of my limit. I don’t think I could pay nearly £2 for a puny chocolate bar.

My DD did some work experience at WHSmith , one of her jobs was rifling through the chocolate to remove the Out of Date .
Considering it is like an oven in there , the OOD chocolate must've been pretty rank (and £)

To be clear, I was not suggesting I was held at gunpoint while they extracted the cash from my purse. But thanks to all the people who have helpfully said “I would not have paid that”.
