Hi everyone, Me and my partner are looking to start having a weekly meal plan. We both normally stick to the same foods repeatedly so we are looking for some ideas. We do only eat chicken meat wise , and also don’t eat dairy, However fairly open to anything else. thanks everyone xx

What do you have currently?

Salmon baked in chilli lime and ginger with noodles and stir-fry veg is nice

Chicken/ veg curry is also good and can be batch cooked

Summer is coming so we live a picky tea here. Quiche, prawns, salads, nice breads etc- basically whatever can be whipped up from random stuff in the fridge

Chicken shawarma with pitta and salad?

@Dogskidsdogs We are very basic, Most nights we have grilled chicken with veg and cous cous occasionally, just so easy + tasty however getting a bit boring now, Thanks for the suggestions, definitely sound tasty!

I do a meal plan each week, I plan at least 3-4 new recipes otherwise it gets boring. I like to make the Gousto and Hello Fresh recipes, we don't buy the boxes but just buy the ingredients ourselves as all the recipes are online anyway.

I have a number of easy go-to recipes (30?) and alternate between them.

I have just changed to a new system after trying unsuccessfully to use a meal plan

I now keep a list in my journal of the main food items that I have, grouped under
FRUIT & VEG
PROTEIN
CARBS
I add to this list when I go shopping and cross things off when I use things up
I put a star next to anything that needs using up
(it's a lot easier than it sounds!)

I have another list on the opposite side of the page of the meals that I could cook with the ingredients on my list so I can just look each day and see what I fancy

This system is working better for me than a meal plan as it gives me more flexibility if plans change or I have leftovers to use up. It's also reduced food waste

Hope this helps

No.
I have always gone to the supermarket, seen what I fancy buying at that time, and plan from there.
What I buy is influenced by a combination of the following:

  • Special offers
  • Decent 'use by' dates
  • The weather
  • seeing something we've not had for a while
  • What time we have available that week (in from work at a decent time, and not needing to be out particularly early to meetings / hobbies / volunteering / rehearsals / type of thing)
  • How many people are eating (eg, I'm not going to make a lasagne for one or even two of us, but is a great meal for a crowd)

Yep mostly summer and winter we cook a lot at the weekend and bbq most days in summer and have a pizza oven outside so bear that in more

Saturday: pizza/bbq wings/burgers/steak
Sunday bbq whole chicken Greek salad and pittas
Monday leftovers
Tuesday pasta and sauce (from a jar)
Weds curry and rice (from a jar)
Thursday shop bought quiche and Salad and new pots
Friday home made Chinese takeaway

Other ideas
Fajitas
Old El Paso rice kit
Deli sandwich
Chicken strips and chips
Tempura chicken katsu curry
Lasagne

Yes I mean plan, do inventory and do a weekly big shop and usually an M&S and an Aldi one. No would have a meal if we didn't, although we don't stick to it religiously (ended up with Costco chicken nuggets in a wrap tonight).

I thought you meant the old fashioned meal plan where you had the set meal for each day of the week Roast on Sunday, Shepherds pie Monday etc Fish on Friday, of course. In one way boring but in another way easy on the brain!
