Do you ever go shopping cos you're bored?

I was wandering round waitrose and B&M today and i realised i was only doing it cos i was bored. Don't get me wrong i did get things i needed, but it was just nice to get out the house and away from the football on telly.
Does anyone else do this?

No, I prefer iceberg anyway.

I was going to say something very lofty about not being able to imagine anything worse, before I remembered just how much I like doing the rounds of the charity shops. Or bookshops. Or, especially, second hand bookshops 😆

Yes, I cannot walk past a charity shop without going in to look at the books.

There used to be a One Below in a town close to a site that I worked at for a while. I made a point of wandering around there on my lunch break just out of pure curiosity as to what could cost less than one pound/ euro. Still not worked it out yet if it is a better economy than B&M though or home bargains. Definitely has different stock.

I hate sitting at my desk eating.

I don’t really like shopping so I wouldn’t go somewhere like B&am when bored but sometimes I walk to the Co-Op which is about a mile away rather than going to the supermarket across the road if I need to buy something not because they have a better selection but just because I’m a bit bored and fancy the walk.

Never, I only shop in person when absolutely essential. I can’t imagine being bored, there’s so many interesting things to,do!

No, I don't enjoy shopping at all and do pretty much all of it online.

I shop online when I'm bored 😳 I start off thinking "I wonder what you can get to [fulfil some purpose]?" Five hours of retail rabbit holes, review sites and videos I thought might be informative, and I'm surprised to discover I've spent a bunch of money I'd earmarked for something else ...

I used to do this in the physical world, too. There, I'd be asking a salesperson my "I wonder?" question, really enjoying the conversation and walking out much lighter in the pocket. I tell myself that at least I do comparisons online, but am far from convinced I'm not just buying more stuff at better prices!

I have literally never done this and not sure I know many if any who do!

I do know a few people who do this. An aunt who loves to have all the latest clothes and latest home decor and spends thousands on it (re-mortgaged her house actually to keep going). She gets bored easily and then passes on clothes and decor to others. Half my parents artwork comes from her. I have wondered if she has 'a problem' but she swears she loves it and that is the motivation.

It's certainly not how I'd spend my disposable income but I have other pointless things in my life that I spend it on.

Edited to add - my aunt will spend hours browsing. She will have day trips to our Big City just to 'window shop'. Although tbf she almost always buys something unplanned.

No way. I hate shopping. I'd rather go swimming or the cinema.

frozendaisy · 15/05/2024 07:52

Not been that bored yet!

I will wander into unnecessary shops when out and about.

TheChosenTwo · 15/05/2024 07:53

Not these days, I used to quite enjoy an hour or two around the town centre but I haven’t ‘been shopping’ for years unless I actually needed something in a hurry and then it’s a pre planned ‘know what I’m getting, go in, pick it up, straight to the till, pay, go home’ sort of a trip.
Hate the endless browsing and wandering. It’s wandering people who slow me down when I’m on my smash and grab mission 😂
Online all the way for me now.
