Easy plants / flowers to put in pots ?

I have a few large pots in my garden and I'd like to put something in but it has to be low maintenance. I'm no gardener and don't enjoy it!
What's cheap and easy to maintain and looks good? Doesn't need to flower but would be nice

Lambs Ears are lovely and easy - lots of soft greenish white leaves and very low maintenance. They look good in pots.

Herbs e.g. chives / marjoram / oregano or rosemary.

Summer flowering bulbs like Dahlias or Begonias.

How big is big? I’m wondering if your pots are big enough for small shrubs (standard shape, maybe) or whether you’d be looking at perennials. Also, how much sun do they get?

Hosta's are amazing plants, perennials, and you do not have to do anything at all. Once you plant them, they keep coming back, also ferns.

Do you want something for the summer or something that will last a few seasons?

For the summer you can’t go wrong with geraniums, the brighter red the better imo, maybe a few bacopa tucked in alongside them. Both forgiving, and don’t mind if you forget to water for a few days, don’t get eaten by pests.

For longer term I would look at things like phormium the New Zealand Flax, comes in various colours, hardy, long lasting. Quite tall so you can put other seasonal stuff under it, or have permanent planting like some trailing ivy.
