Borrowed item

A friend of mine was pregnant and we were discussing an item for the baby. She asked me which version of the item I had for my DC and I offered her it as I still had it. She gave a non-committal response which didn’t surprise me as she’s a bit snobbish about second hand things, in the end she got a new one (different version though).
After a little bit of time I offered the same item to another pregnant friend who accepted my offer gratefully.
Months later the first friend has her baby and asks me if I still have the item as the one she got wasn’t great. I told her I did but I had promised it to our mutual friend. We decided she could use it until our other friend has her baby.

A bit of time has passed since the second friend has given birth yet the first friend still has the item. I can’t think of any pleasant way to ask her to pass the item on. What would you do?

Next time you arrange a meet just say 'oh and can you bring [amazing item] as I did promise it to X, thanks'! That's all you need to say. If she pushes back just say 'well when you didn't want it I did say X could have it and you did agree to that and she's counting on it'. I mean how churlish can this woman be? And what the heck is this thing?
