8 hour sunscreen for kids

Can anyone recommend an 8-hour sunscreen for kids please?

Soltan is awful so not that, and looking for reasonable price too (under £20).

This is specifically for use during school only, as we have other sunscreen that you reapply frequently for outside of school. We are well aware that 8-hour sunscreen is not recommended but DS(9) will not apply a normal sunscreen at school and the school ask that pupils come into school with it already applied.

Ultrasun is the best I've come across. Doesn't stain clothes either. It's been fine for school, I would re-apply after school if you are out in the sun longer though, I wouldn't trust anything to last 8 hours

P20 is very good

Another vote for P20

It had some fairly poor results in tests not that long ago.

What's wrong with boots Soltan??

YouAndMeAndThem · 11/05/2024 08:13

I've never had an issue with Soltan. It's got 5* UV rating and it doesn't stain clothes.

Calypso Once is good. Smells like hand sanitizer, but otherwise protects our very fair skin. I hate Soltan and P20.

Really? What tests were they? I've used it for years and never burned and am extremely pale. It stops me getting prickly heat too.

Which found it didn’t offer anywhere near the stated protection.

Really? I'm surprised by that. I used it on a 2 week holiday to Florida last year and didn't burn once. Its the only one that doesn't aggravate my eczema so I'm sticking with it.

P20 is great for sungle application but stains white clothes unless dry and can still stain collars a cream colour. Nivea hasn't seemed to stain in the same way.

Ultrasun. I particularly like the sports one they do. Not had any issues in years and years and not heard of the comments above. Fair skinned ginger family here.

My son have sensitive skin and since most brands have awful amount of alcohol in sunscreen specially the chemical sunscreen ones I had a hard time to find a good sunscreen for him but recently one of my friend recommended a new brand called Gilguzi to me it is a bit on mid-price £24 for 100ml but it is one of the best ones and my sun is very happy with it. It is organic and good for sensitive skin.

I think you need to re-read the which report. It didn't say that at all. Ultrasun passed all the tests. The ones that didn't were the mineral sunscreens.
