Paying for work experience.

DD15 is due to do her work experience in the next month or so, she organised it herself and it’s somewhere local to us rather than local to her school.

The school are wanting a £37 payment for the work experience for reasons I’m still not clear on. Dd has said it’s to do with safety checks on the different business/organisations that the pupils choose and it’s mandatory but it’s one of these things that I had put to the back of my mind until I got a reminder yesterday to pay it.

DD17 is at a different school and we didn’t have have to pay anything for her week and in fact I’ve never heard anyone having to do this before..

Can I ask if this is a normal in other schools and if anyone knows exactly that it’s for?

It will be for a DBs certificate. Needed if the placement is with service users like in a home, or school.

I've struggled to arrange ds2's.
They should have explained the rules, the 'catchment area' and the possible need for DBS. I hadn't thought of that. So it's poor.
