What's in your picnic?

Planning a picnic at the beach today if the weather holds.

My picnics usually contain;

  • marinated chicken drumsticks
  • sausages and tomato sauce
  • pasta salad with peas, corn, tomatoes, onions and mayo
  • fruit
  • chocolate
  • mini bottle(s) of prosecco
  • cola

Curious to know what is your go-to picnic!

Or homemade sausage rolls

Crudités
Strawberries
Mini sparkling wine of some variety
Cheese and crackers

Nothing messy or requiring cutlery other than a knife and minimal packaging, I don't like lugging lots of containers around. Our picnics tend to be functional rather than luxury.

French bread or crusty rolls
Salted butter
Salami, ham and strong cheese
Either the above pre-made or sandwiches if eaten as part of a walk
Crisps - preferably salt and vinegar
Cherry tomatoes, cucumber or similar
Non messy fruit either an apple, grapes, strawberries or similar
Water

We often get our families together for a picnic and each familys bring one savoury item and one sweet item to share. So it's a bit of a pot~luck!!!!!

It always works out well as we have some very good bakers and others who prefer to bring bought items like salads and fruit

And I don't bring anything but buy everyone an ice-cream during the afternoon

Hope you have a lovely time, OP . . . make sure the chocolate doesn't melt in the sun 😢

My picnics are really boring. Sandwich (usually limp cheese and cucumber), fruit, crisps, biscuit, flask of tea.

But it tastes like manna from heaven after slogging up a mountain Wink

I am so glad you posted!

Same for me...sandwich, crisps, cut up veg sticks and some fruit. Literally same as a school packed lunch except may buy a sharing bag of nicer crisps than normal!

Probably be somewhere where we could buy an ice cream after.

DatingDinosaur Exactly that!

We virtually never just have a picnic, it's more of a meal up a large hill or mountain. So anything tastes good.

Sandwiches, flapjack, grapes, bananas, crackers or crisps. Food flask of pasta on cold days.

One day I'll organise a picnic for its own sake and have lots of luxury foods.

Our picnic is like this. Some of these choices very imaginative on this thread.

Sandwiches, sausage rolls, pork pies, pre bought salads in a tub. Crisps, fruit, cake.

Water, wine, we'll buy ice-cream if available.

Some of the grandchildren are pretty conservative so it's easier to go beige.
