What exercise in10 minutes a day?

As the title really.

If you had 10 minutes a day to exercise, what would you do across a week?

Assuming that you were already getting your 10,000 steps and were generally active.

I do a ten minute work out on u tube ( Joe wicks)
I know mumsnet are not keen on him, but the senior ones I do are ok
He isn't as irritating as some other u tube exercise ones , but it's personal choice.
So many to choose from on u tube.

I'd use my Bend app which is basically Yin yoga.

Toomuch44 · 10/05/2024 20:04

If you're getting your steps in, then 10 mins toning exercises, a bike ride around the black or taichi online.

Body weight stuff so squats/burpees and press ups (starting with door ones, then knees then full etc) alternating days then incorporating sit ups, knees up etc, it’s what I do in my short breaks.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/05/2024 20:14

I’d probably design myself a set of workouts- glutes, abs, core and set a 10 minute timer 50 seconds work/10 seconds rest x 10 exercises - do that on rotation throughout the week.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/05/2024 20:15

Skipping.

FiatEarth · 10/05/2024 21:23

Put some 80s disco on and dance your socks off.

TooMinty · 10/05/2024 21:29

Stomach crunches, squats, lunges, bicep curls, plank.

Or some sun salutations, a couple of balance poses, some stretches.

Weights

And yoga

I think I'd look up 10 min workouts on YouTube and do different ones every day. In 2018 I was a bridesmaid and I did probably 3 months of daily abs workouts pre wedding, but I rarely did the same ones twice!

Bettedaviseyes111 · 10/05/2024 22:01

I do 10 minutes YouTube videos (Lily Sabri) Abs one day legs the next.

jobessieandme · 11/05/2024 06:59

Body weight exercises like squats and lunges, while using 3kg weights to do upper body exercises.

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 11/05/2024 07:28

I do a leg workout app. They are a black and red icon on the app store and have leg, abs etc.

It's low impact and nothing too strenuous. I do it in-between kids bedtimes

LemonySnickets · 11/05/2024 07:31

I do Joe wicks workouts on youtube, he's got loads from 7 minute abs workouts to 30 minute kettlebells.

I also do hula hoop, mini trampoline (YouTube workout), I've even had some workouts from TikTok. I forward them to myself so I have loads of links saved in my wattsapp.

There's all sorts online!

LemonySnickets · 11/05/2024 07:32

I also have dumbbells, kettle bells and skipping rope though don't really have the room for the rope at the moment.

TheTerribleMaster · 11/05/2024 07:34

I do a 20 mins workout at home - I have an interval timer on YouTube and I use a step, weights, kettle bell. I do 45 seconds on and 15 seconds rest, repeat 20 times. It's exercises I learned at the gym but I use this to supplement on the days I don't go. E.g squats, step / jump ups, upper body exercises

shuffleofftobuffalo · 11/05/2024 07:40

10min kettlebell workout, look on YouTube

BrandNewBicep · 11/05/2024 07:54

I like the look of that workout - I'm going to give it a go.

NuffSaidSam · 11/05/2024 09:42

Thanks everyone, great suggestions.

The amount of stuff online is the problem I've got 😂.

Time is so limited that I need to streamline. What I need to know is how to get the absolute most for my 10 minutes a day.

We have a fitness trampoline like this (ones with bungee cords are so much better than metal springs) and bounce to music or a youtube video, or just while watching tv.

Get fit with Rick is also a good youtube channel for an easy, enjoyable 10 minute workout.

The 5 Tibetan rites - strongly recommended

Bearpawk · 11/05/2024 10:26

I'd do some yoga flow stretching for 5 mins then 5 mins of something functional and cardio combined like burpees. Challenge yourself to 100 burpees in 5 minutes.
