Downhill from now?

Feeling really blue this evening... I've just turned 53. I was recently dumped by boyfriend of 11 months (controlling and manipulative), a string of failed relationships before that, four out of my five children have flown the nest and the youngest is 16. It feels like my life is over and downhill from now on. All of my friends are happily married and I'm just lonely.

Hit me with your positive stories of how being single in your 50's, with an empty nest worked out ok in the end.

So you have raised 4 nearly 5 independent adults
You must have had a house full for years

You still have one dependent at home, so not quite alone, and you think it's all downhill?

Are you measuring success only as being with a partner?

Time to grow old disgracefully OP.
New wardrobe
Nice holiday
Reading, music, books.

Tell any man you meet that you can't be arsed with time wasters, controllers or layabouts, I bet they haven't brought up 5 kids. They need to be special to be of interest to you.

Life is how you look at it, basically, sit at home if you want. Or just get on and don't accept anything less than better.
