Hi

Just wondering on timescales?

Yes - a couple of weeks ago:

applied on Thursday,
sent my old one on Friday,
received new one following Thursday

It was a WEEK.. A WEEK - couldn't believe it.

PaminaMozart · 10/05/2024 10:21

Same. 8 days 'door to door'.

If only all government departments and companies were as efficient as the UK Passport Office!

BestZebbie · 10/05/2024 10:22

It said 3 week turnaround but it was less than that (maybe 3 weeks to get the old one back too, only half that for the new one).

Georgie8 · 10/05/2024 10:23

Yes, last month.

Took a week (5 working days) -we were impressed and amazed in equal measure!

Kazeragi · 10/05/2024 10:24

Very quick, within the week. Same for kids passports!

BeeCucumber · 10/05/2024 10:25

Yes - I renewed via the Post Office - took 7 days.

LadyR77 · 10/05/2024 10:25

Yep, mine was back with me in 6 days from submitting the application.

Longma · 10/05/2024 10:27

Mine took a fortnight.
I did it in the Saturday, posted photograph on the Monday. Received it a couple of weeks later.

About a week and mine was a name change so not bog standard

Scoobyblue · 10/05/2024 10:51

A week here too. Very efficient.

relentlessissue · 10/05/2024 13:06

Amazing thank you!!! Just need to take dh photo and get it sent off - we're massively overdue a holiday. Not been since 2018 for various reasons

Mine was sent Monday lunchtime and back first thing Friday morning. Astonishingly fast! Straightforward adult renewal.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 10/05/2024 13:36

My DD (16 so adult renewal) applied for hers online last Fri (3 May) and posted back old passport straight way by 1st class post. It has been approved this morning (so a week since doing application) and is being printed as we speak. And that includes a day's delay for bank holiday post. I'll come and confirm when it's actually received but we've been v impressed with service. They have been very good a providing updates also.

dementedpixie · 10/05/2024 13:43

Dd got her renewal to an adult one and it took 8 days. I posted her old one into the post box with a 1st class stamp rather than send by a tracked method

D20 · 10/05/2024 13:49

A week just last week.

sunglassesonthetable · 10/05/2024 14:52

6 weeks ago and It was Amazing.

I was stood in Asda getting my picture taken on a Thurs, went and uploaded it same day. Sent off my Docs the next day and I was holding my new Passport the following Thursday.

Last Summer it took 12 weeks and a visit to the passport office to get my son's.

relentlessissue · 13/05/2024 14:55

Completed the application and posted the old passport back this morning!

My information is that it depends on the passport office. Mine was the Liverpool office - took about 4 days. It's nice when an arm of the public service that seems to be delivering.

worriedgal · 13/05/2024 15:18

I applied on a Saturday last month- sent my old passport on the Monday and received the new one and old one on the Thursday
I was amazed!

Jennywren8 · 13/05/2024 15:23

So glad to hear this, we've been waiting til my DS turns 16 so he can get an adult passport (can apply 3 weeks in advance of bday which I did to the day) sent off on Thursday and they've already received his old passport and was quite nervous because were pushing it for timings as we are going long haul the 3rd week in July.

drowninginsick · 13/05/2024 15:29

About three weeks here but still was happy with that! Amazed some are coming back in a week!

Clearinguptheclutter · 13/05/2024 15:31

Not me but ds (kids apparently take longer on average).
9 days. Perhaps the only thing in the UK that’s working well at the moment, but at the extortionate price paid, you’d bloody hope so

StrangewaysHereWeCome · 13/05/2024 15:33

Did three out of four in the family recently. Can't remember exactly how long each took, but certainly no more than a fortnight, and you get a text update at each stage. Decent service IMO

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 16/05/2024 14:25

My DD adult passport arrived on 14 May having applied on 3 May so 11 days including a bank holiday weekend which slowed down the post...
