Coincidence or a sign?

I work in a different county to where I live A woman at work was wearing THE perfect item of clothing I need. Chatted to her and it's end high street, out of my price bracket.
Search Vinted, Depop, Vestaire and eBay when I get home ( late) . There's a few but literally only one on eBay theres perfect price / colour / condition . 11 minutes to end of listing. However eBay won't let me log in with saved password despite attempts to reset it .
Check this morning and it's sold. It shows you the winning bid and postcode. Yes readers, out of all the eBayers worldwide , it's the next street to mine.

Sorry what?

Deftandglory · 09/05/2024 21:03

Basically I found the the fairly niche item I wanted at the price I could afford ( second hand ) and then it went wrong and someone else bought it. But weirdly out of everyone who buys and sells on eBay it's someone the next road down( so I might well see them wearing it).
I'm cross. What are the chances after no bids, in the last 11 minutes someone ekse got it living within 300 metres of me.

Now I need to know what the item was

I didn’t know you could see the postcode of the winner

PalomaColumbine · 09/05/2024 22:49

I don’t think you can. But it does tell you when delivery would be expected to your postcode (if you had bid and won). Like in screenshot here:

Coincidence or a sign?

Sign of what?

SleepingStandingUp · 09/05/2024 23:46

It's a bit dodgy you know the postcode of who's brought what.

But no, it's not a sign. What would it be a sign of? She's destined to be your new bff? You shouldn't have the item? The Universe thinks you don't deserve nice things??

Ah so that’s not the winners postcode? OP, does that make you feel a bit better? Hopefully!

No, it was my postcode in the photo.
As OP had been unable to log in, it probably guessed a postcode based on location tracking or something <not a technical person>

GordonBlue · 10/05/2024 02:34

Well if you know her address, just break into her house and steal it from her.

Deftandglory · 10/05/2024 14:30

Ah no you're right @PalomaColumbine .

Ok so this is now weirder. I have a work laptop and I recognised that postcode because I had entered as part of my travel expenses ( it's a couple of roads down on a estate) last week. It's a distinctive one as has a repeated letter at the end.

I was looking at eBay on my personal iPad. All my stuff is Apple so shouldn't know what I'm doing on my crappy work laptop.

Probably tracked your location via your phone and linked it to your iPad. Gives me the heebie jeebies if I think about it too much!
