Would you do this?

I am single, work full time, I don’t have DC this weekend and I ran a marathon the other week. I’m shattered but also one of these busy people that doesn’t stop and relax. If I stay in this weekend I will end up doing jobs like gardening, painting fences or decorating, or scrolling social media until I fall asleep.

I feel like I need the sea, fresh air, a different set of 4 walls and somewhere different to where I live.

There’s an Airbnb in the north west / north wales, less than £70 for 2 nights, on the beach, looks lovely. Host has offered her bike and been friendly when I made the enquiry. Weather looks dry but not sunny - so maybe a bit of chill time on the beach and exploring. House looks immaculate too

I’ll be on my own which I’m used to travelling with work but for some reason, as this is entirely for me (not work) I can’t seem to press the “complete booking” button.

Would you go in my situation?
Being on my own is so weird. I can’t make fuckin decisions!

Go for it! Why not?

EnglishBluebell · 09/05/2024 20:12

Absolutely! I'd LOVE to go away on my own again. Pre-DC, I once had an actual, full blown infestation of black widow spiders in my house(!) and needed to vacate for a few days whilst it was taken care of, so I went to the coast for 2 nights! I had a blast. I could do what I wanted without anyone else's approval and pleased myself. Boat trips, browsed the seafront shops for as long as I liked without anyone becoming sulky, it was fabulous. Do it for all those of us who can’t!

Just an FYI, this Saturday is going to be a scorcher so take plenty of factor 50 🏖️ 🚤 Lucky woman 🧍🏼‍♀️ 🧳

Sounds amazing. I would plans things so you don’t spend your time on MN. Book, magazine, stuff for pampering, places to visit, places for food.

It’s weird as I yearned for this pre separation and now I have the opportunity it feels more scary somehow. I’m literally a senior manager, travel for work and have no issue being on my own. But doing this feels self indulgent and has an air of “what if’s..” within it. Planning ever scenario in my head. Ultimately if I’m not happy, I come home, it’s 90 minutes away!

I’ve packed without booking so clearly want to do it

I won’t be on MN but definitely social media scroll. Have put 2 books in my bag and packed running kit too as would like to get up early and run along the beach.

I am jealous. Have the most fantastic time.

Ratisshortforratthew · 09/05/2024 20:59

Yes of course! Being self indulgent is good. Go for it

coxesorangepippin · 09/05/2024 21:00

Go, go, go

Ticktapticktap · 09/05/2024 21:04

Absolutely - I do this every year!

Sunlightatlast · 09/05/2024 21:09

Sounds great, why wouldn't you?

HumphreysCorner · 09/05/2024 21:12

I've just booked 5 days away on my own and a friend also does this. Enjoy.

Els1e · 09/05/2024 21:14

Sounds a great idea. It’s good to have a change of scenery.

EveryOtherNameTaken · 09/05/2024 21:18

100%.

I love going away alone. You really get the full 'me time' with no distractions and do what you want.

Have fun!!

DrKovac · 09/05/2024 21:22

Thank you everyone. Even as I was writing out the OP, I was like, you’re a knob, just book it.

All booked, £68 for 2 nights in a lush Airbnb owned by a woman who’s a senior lecturer in English. 5* reviews and on the beach. Shes said I can lend her bike and already told me some running routes too.

Going to head up there after work tomorrow and try and catch the sunset.
