Can you think of a film that older teens could watch that illustrates aspects of the British Empire/colonialism? Ideally doesn't involve too much bloodshed or any kind of romantic entanglement. Genuinely asking for a friend who wants to show her psychology A level class but none of us can think of anything suitable. Thanks!

What is she trying to illustrate, though?

A Passage to India?
Heat and Dust?
Zulu?
Gandhi?
Black Narcissus?

A United Kingdom is excellent but is about a romantic entanglement.

Can't think of a film not already suggested but Indian Summers the C4 series was good and rated a 15 so suitable for A-level. Maybe an episode of that?

Avoiding bloodshed in films about the days of Empire/Colonisation is a bit of an ask, really.

Unless, it's entirely romanticised versions of history the students need to see?

Also, romantic entanglements are part of life particularly where people live with the fear of death on a daily basis aren't they?

My picks are:

Michael Collins.
The Wind That Shakes The Barley.

Thanks for suggestions- in our context, we cannot show anything in terms of a relationship, even between a married couple.
