How many hours should a meal fill you up for?

Years of dieting have resulted in a situation in which I can't judge how soon I should be hungry after a meal. 2 hours, 3, 4 or longer? I currently start thinking about food around 2 hours after my last meal, and then agonize about whether a snack is OK, or if that means my last meal wasn't enough or maybe I just have no will power. Have a history of disordered eating although I don't have an eating disorder, if that distinction makes sense.

Weekdays I eat at 8am, 12-1 and 7pm. I have an occasional biscuit or piece of fruit in the late afternoon. I usually start feeling hungry about 30-60 mins before.
Weekends can be any time.

It’s ok to feel peckish. It’s great to feel hungry for a meal. I think the obsession with snacking has made us think that feeling hungry is somehow bad for us. It’s not. Obviously nobody wants to feel ravenous / light headed / low but peckish, hungry for a meal is perfectly natural.

I fast so I eat at 12pm and 6pm ish. Occasionally I'll have a snack mid afternoon. Not always.

I can't speak on shoulds - it depends on what you eat. A restaurant meal for me at lunch time would leave me satisfied and not hungry for the rest of the day. A fried breakfast would mean I didn't feel like lunch. I've felt like this since 40 ish onwards. I don't tend to snack unless I'm hungry and I don't often feel hungry unless it's around my period...but I've done my years of disordered eating and it's very tricky to eat normally again. You have my sympathy.
