Have you ever seen a private GP?

I'm thinking of accessing a private GP for an emergency supply of diazepam. I'm doing some exposure therapy at the moment and I'm likely to spiral when I push myself too far (I have to push).

I've never actually taken a benzo before but knowing I have something in the back pocket for if I go in to a crisis would be reassuring.

Does anyone know if a private GP could offer this?

Most likely a private GP won't handle any kind of benzodiazepines.

They don’t have access to your full NHS medical history and without this they will be very hesitant to prescribe you any benzodiazepines (and rightly so). I highly doubt that they will agree.

You’d also have to pay for the prescription and the drugs at whatever they cost.

@overthinkersanonnymus beta blockers can be helpful in exposure therapy, have you tried them before?

@LapinR0se I have but it's more the mental anxiety rather than physical anxiety I suffer with. Beta blockers only work on my shaking etc.

A private psychiatrist might but usually a private GP won't prescribe anything like that.

Very unlikely as they are a drug open to abuse.

Wouldn't your NHS GP prescribe some?

My GP gave me some valium when I was getting through a phobia.

@TheShellBeach no he won't. I've told him I'd have to be in absolute crisis to take one, I don't even like taking paracetamol!
