Talk me down - I can't be pregnant can I?

Condom broke on Saturday night (only contraception we use as sex these days is few and far between - I have asked DH to book for the snip but it has not yet happened so here we are)

Went to get MAP straight away sunday am. Pharmacist told me it won't work if I've already ovulated. According to my calculations there is a pretty good chance I ovulated Friday or Saturday so this means I still have a chance of being pregnant right? I took the pill anyway. She said I could have arranged to have a coil fitted which would be 100% effective but I stupidly weighed up my odds and decided against it which I am now regretting and it's too late.

But the chances of being pregnant are pretty slim right?
I'm mid 40s probably peri but periods are regular
Overweight
It took 2 years TTC for each of my DC so I can't be that fertile? Have always had a short cycle.

But yet here I am at 2 am panicking.

I know no-one can tell me. Just need a handhold really until I can take a test/period comes. Another DC now is just not an option.

The chances are low. Get some sleep and test asap.

At your age the likelihood of getting pregnant each cycle is 3-4%.

Back to sleep! All will be well. 💖

Theoretically there's a chance, but it's very very low.

Wait until the appropriate amount of time (2 weeks) has passed and then test. It's useless of a PP to tell you to test asap. It doesn't work like that. You never know though.

Thanks all.

@homezookeeper I took PP to mean test as soon as it is reasonable to do so, ie after 2 weeks.

When I had a similar panic I read that it’s actually quite hard to get pregnant a couple of days after you’ve ovulated. The sperm hang around for the egg rather than the other way round.

Scarletttulips · 09/05/2024 07:17

The morning after pill is based on a persons weight - over 79kg and you should be offered 2.

My former fell pregnant at 40 and should’ve been offered 2 she took 1 and still pregnant.

There’s a small chance - logically there a high change you aren’t pregnant.
