Canvassing opinions!! What time do your 7 year olds and 10 year olds go to bed and what time do they eat dinner?

And do you sit down and have dinner together?

DH don’t think we have the timings right at all.

Mine are 7 and 9. I have dinner with them at 6pm (DH is usually still at work). They start bathing around 8, are in bed around 8.30 and goof around until 9 and fall asleep.

9 yr old - cook at 7, eat by 8, 15 mins gentle tv (evolutionary hangover retained from the days of the cbeebies bedtime song!) at 8.15-8.30 before "bedtime" (teeth etc), then read them a story in bed until 9.30-10pm (depending on if they are falling asleep by 9.30/convenient point to break the story), asleep by 10.
Up at 7 but don't do much until breakfast at 8.

Dinner at 7.30ish and bed at 10.30 ish

Kids aren't British if that makes a difference

8 years old and 3 years old. Dinner is 6:30 and bedtime for both is 7:30. Oldest often watches a movie in bed and falls asleep just before 8. Youngest is normally asleep within 5 minutes (no tv in her room until she’s older). They normally read before getting into bed

We always ate dinner together every evening from when in high chair, went to bed when tired. No hard and fast rules about bedtime.

coxesorangepippin · 09/05/2024 02:03

We have dinner at 5.30pm and the kids are bedded down by 8pm.

Bed is slightly earlier or later, depending on the time of year/ school hols.

coxesorangepippin · 09/05/2024 02:04

Both of them need 11 hours sleep or we all suffer.

Same here.

At that age ds had tea around 5.00pm, he was a good eater & ate anything. He had a bath around 7.00pm, then a snack & drink, in bed by 8.00pm & light out no later than 9.00pm, he was a very bad sleeper & was often still reading at 10.30pm using his torch.

ineedtostopbeingdramaticfirst · 09/05/2024 05:37

We eat around 530. In the week Ds watch's tv in living room so wouldn't say we eat together. But at a weekend we do eat as a family.

Ds goes to bed at 8. He's 8 years old.

sunshineandrain82 · 09/05/2024 05:48

Ours are 4,7,10,16.

Dinner is at 5pm every night.
4 year old goes to bed at 7.30
7 year old is 8pm
10 year old 8.30pm
16 year old is 9pm

Slightly later bedtimes at weekends and holidays depending on there moods. But dinner never changes.

7 and 10 yr old here. Depending on what clubs are on we eat dinner anytime between 5:45-6:30. 7 yr old has lights out between 8-8:15. 10 yr old is lights out between 9-9:15 (again depends on clubs).
