Lost soul.

If someone was described as a 'lost soul', what kind of person do you imagine? What things would they do?

If someone called you a lost soul, what would that make you feel about yourself?

An aimless, wistful sort of depressed person.

I would imagine someone who doesn't have a clear direction in life ? Someone who is a bit lost and not sure where to turn next or what to do with themselves ?

I've described children as lost souls when they're wandering about by themselves aimlessly. Usually has connotations of being timid, fearful, not knowing what to do with themselves, or how to engage with others or to initiate interactions.
