Hi,

I am so rubbish with small talk. When take my Dc to school, all of the other mums are chatting away and I still don't know any of them after being here for a year. I do try if my DC are standing in line next to one of their friends, I'll try and speak to the other parent but they usually are chatting to the person on the other side of them. I realise that this must be a me issue as I seem to be the only one who is on their own. I try smiling etc but I figured that I need to try something else as smiling and comments aren't getting me anywhere. I've lived here for a year and don't have any friends. I don't want or need lots, but I'd love a friend I could meet for a coffee etc. I'm not lonely as such as I have a wonderful DP and DC but I don't have any friends where I live. Any tips?Smile

Hi OP, it's really hard to find a way in if you move to an area after everyone else has settled in. Does your DC have a couple of friends in their class? If so, could you invite them and their mums around to yours for a coffee, or to a park with a cafe in?
