Did a huge batch cook this morning. Floored by Covid this afternoon.

Is the stuff in the freezer ok? Felt like crap at lunchtime, took a test this afternoon and now quietly praying for the sweet kiss … Anyway I put 40 quids worth of meat into a huge batch cook that I deep froze a few hours ago - can I feed it to anyone? I’ve definitely got Covid.

Did you cough in it?

Do you think the food now has COVID?

Yeah it will be fine. Even if it’s got the virus in it, when you cook the food again the heat will kill it.

Freezing and cooking will both likely kill any covid particles. It will be fine.

You're going to reheat it to piping hot anyway so it will be fine

This happened to me in January. I froze and re heated the food and it was absolutely fine for DH and DC. I didn't fancy it though.

So you honestly believe that you can contaminate food from a flu virus that is now frozen?

Thank you to everyone thats replied - I feed my elderly great Aunt as well as my kids, which is why I batch cook, so I don’t want to take any chances. I feel a bit odd about eating any of it myself knowing how I feel right now, but I guess that will pass once I don’t have a daft temperature.

It'll be fine and look on the bright side, you may be poorly but you now have dinners to reheat, so you can hopefully relax
