Ok I know that being nice is not the only criteria .
I am going to treat myself to a night away with some retail therapy.
I need it to be within 2 hours of M25
I need to be able to park, check in and then walk into a decent high street with interesting shops cafes etc
On the second day I'd like to visit a quaint village or town for a mooch round, coffee and cake plus a bit of people watching.
Any ideas gratefully received

Stay in Winchester and then go to either Alresford or Stockbridge.

Bury St Edmunds. Lovely market town. Then on the next day you can visit Lavenham and Long Melford.

Is Bath too far for Day 1 ?
Day 2 could be Castle Combe or Lacock .

Cambridge. All the high street shops and some interesting independents. Lots of museums and other things to do if you get bored of shopping. Head to Grantchester for afternoon tea.

Hitchin? I’ve never known a place to have so many cafes…and lovely eateries plus there’s a tiny but amazing chocolate shop.

Guildford. Pretty high street, nice shops, good restaurants and cafes and a castle with beautiful gardens. Next day, you could visit Shere. It's picture perfect with nice cafes and pubs and has been used as a film location lots.
